Turns: a rota for a flat, a team or a class, shared from one link

A new tool on allkeep.org. Write who shares the work and what the jobs are; Turns says whose turn it is, keeps a missed turn owed, and opens for the whole group from one link.

A rota for a flat, a children's team or a school class often lives as a photo of a table in the group chat. It goes wrong when someone can't do their turn or swaps with someone: the yes is never written down, and soon the table is out of date. I made Turns to keep that record. It is at allkeep.org/en/turns, in English, Japanese, Russian, Indonesian and Vietnamese, with no app and no account.

Who goes next

You write the people and the jobs: every week on some days, every other week, or on set dates such as match days, with one or more people a turn. Turns gives the next turn to whoever has done that job the fewest times. The rule is written on the page.

On now: a card for each job, with the face of the person whose turn it is, the day, and the buttons to mark it done or hand it on

A missed turn stays owed

A turn marked "Not done" comes back to the same person, who owes it until they do one. "Can't do it" hands the turn to the fairest person who is free, and the board shows the change in pen. Someone away is passed over and owes nothing. Someone new starts level with whoever has done the fewest. Each person's count is drawn as dots.

One link for the group

"Share with the group" gives the rota a link of its own. Everyone opens the same rota from it and marks turns, with no sign-up. "Print for the fridge" puts the board on one A4 page.

Until you share it, the rota stays in your browser. A shared rota is kept on AllKeep with its names and turns. Whoever made it can delete it for everyone, and a rota nobody changes for 12 months is deleted.
