"Thẻ my number hết hạn thì phải làm sao?" asks what to do when the My Number card has expired. In Japanese, people search "在留カード 期限切れ 申請中" and "在留カード 期限切れ 銀行口座". The trouble is that your cards end on dates that depend on each other, and no office updates the others for you. A renewal at immigration leaves the My Number card on the old date. If you have a period of stay, J-LIS sends you no expiry letter at all. So I added a papers calendar to Japan Life Hub, in its seven languages.
Your dates, as steps
Enter the end date printed on your residence card and on your My Number card. You can add the electronic certificate, your passport and a move if you have one. Each step shows its first and last day, the office to go to, how many days you have left, and a sentence in Japanese you can show at the counter.

When you have applied
Enter the day you applied, and the page counts the special period. If your application is in by the last day, you may stay until the decision, or at most two months after your period ends. The My Number card does not wait that long. While you wait, the city hall extends it by two months, but only if you go before the date on the card. Miss that day and the card lapses, and a new card with its certificate costs ¥1,000.

Reminders in your phone's calendar
"Add to my phone's calendar" downloads a file with every date. Each date reminds you at 9:00 a week before and again the day before. You can also copy the list or send it to family or your support organisation. Your dates stay in your browser and are never sent to us.
